DETECTIVES have carried out a series of drug raids across Bundaberg, charging three women and eight men with 33 offences.

Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Bobbie Zanco said police executed search warrants at eleven properties in Kepnock, Kensington, Norville, Thabeban, Branyan, Bundaberg North and East and Moore Park Beach between the end of last week and this morning, resulting in the 33 charges being laid.

The drug haul included 5kg of marijuana and 500 small marijuana plants.

"It was a range of offences, possess dangerous drug, supply dangerous drug and also possess firearms," she said.

"The ages (of those charged) range from 24 through to 41."

Among the weapons found during the raids was a shortened firearm, a taser and knives and Det Act Snr Sgt Zanco said drugs and weapons were a concerning combination.

"It is a concern when you're finding those sort of items together and its a good result that they're now not in their possession," she said.

This week's raids are part of CIB's commitment to combating drugs and Det Act Snr Sgt asked members of the community to assist them by reporting anything suspicious.

"It's part of an ongoing strategy to counteract the unlawful drug activity here," she said

"If anyone in the community sees anything suspicious or becomes aware of anyone involved (in drug activity) we urged them to give us or Crime Stoppers a call so we can follow it up."

Among those charged was 41-year-old David Adam Whillans.

He appeared in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with a string of drugs and weapons offences including one count of possessing a shortened firearm, two counts of possessing a schedule 1 drug above the schedule 3 amount and five counts of possessing restricted drugs.

Whillans did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody to reappear via videolink on December 23.
