3.7 magnitude earthquake hit off Fraser Island this morning
AN earthquake has struck off Queensland's Fraser coast.
The 3.7 magnitude quake hit in waters off Fraser Island about 6.40am (Queensland time) on Boxing Day.
Geosciences Australia estimated the tremor could have been felt by people up to 46 kilometres away.
More than a dozen aftershocks had been felt in the area since a 5.4 magnitude quake struck in late July.
That earthquake was felt as far south as the Gold Coast but GA wasn't expecting Saturday's quake to be felt on land.
