Have a hearty feed by the camp fire

THE warm and delicious Camp Oven Classic is on again in Charleville, where the best local camp-cooks will face off in the Master Chef of the bush.

Head on down to watch the cooks at work, sample the dishes, or even have a crack yourself.

Teams of one to four people are welcome to enter, and make their best meal in each category.

Dance the night away with local heroes

CHARLEVILLE'S night of nights is happening this weekend.

The 000 Ball will bring more than 500 people to town, in support of our hard-working emergency services personnel.

All of the funds raised at the black-tie gala, and the charity auction, will go back in to local services by providing extra training and equipment.

Get dusty out at Augathella

ALL of the campdrafting action is making its way to Augathella this weekend.

There is an event for everyone, including maiden riders, opens, juniors and minis,and even a gymkhana for the kids.

AHEAD of the Cunnamulla Festival, the Diggers Race Club is hosting its annual festival race meeting this weekend.

The usual bar, canteen and bookies will be operating, along with plenty of fun stuff for the kids, a lucky members' draw, and fashions on the field with a special category for the best-dressed cowboy or cowgirl. Hit the track in time for the five-race program, which leaps out of the gate at 1.30pm.

Have a swing on the red course

QUILPIE Golf Club is the place to be for sporting fun and frivolity this weekend, for the Paulsen Bros' Friendly Grocer Super Saturday golf day.

The 15-hole ambrose is inviting teams of three to have a crack at the course, and at the swathe of prizes on offer.

There is $500 cash up for grabs, a novelty prize for every hold, and one lucky player will leave with the lucky door prize: a 5-night luxury Gold Coast holiday.
