A great day on the green
THE Charleville Show is just around the corner and the Miss Showgirl entrants are busy fundraising for the event.
As part of showgirl entrant Demmi Roberts' fundraising efforts, she hosted a day on the green at the Charleville Bowls Club.
Twenty-two teams registered on the day, joined by plenty of others who supported the event.
Overwhelmed by the support, Roberts was pleased with how the weekend's event turned out.
"I am extremely happy with how the day played out and the amount of people that participated both playing bowls and afterwards with all the raffles,” she said.
"I want to thank everyone who participated and the Charleville Bowls Club for hosting, as well as a special thanks to Western Meat Exporters for sponsorship on the day.”
Roberts also held a competition for best-dressed team, with $100 up for grabs on the day.
As a result, teams went above and beyond to have their shot at winning the competition, with people dressed as nuns, popes, superheroes, Teletubbies and even splashing out in Hawaiian and team shirts.
However, it was team Justice League who took out the top prize for dressing up as Wonder Woman, Superman, Flash and Batman.
With many amateur bowls players on the day, the competition was very one sided in some matches.
The Norton's were on a roll across the green and snagged the overall win of the day, taking home $200 for their 30 point score over Coote.
With the Miss Showgirl judging only a couple of weeks away, Roberts said she has exceeded her fundraising goal of $1000 already.
