ADF Land Rover presented to Charleville veterans

Veterans can still participate in ANZAC and Remembrance Day marches because they can now be transported in a Land Rover.

Offered to regional towns from the Australian Defence Force, the Charleville RSL sub-branch took the opportunity to acquire a transporter through funding.

From Bandiana in Victoria, the vehicle is in camouflage colours and has a removable top.

Charleville RSL sub-branch president of almost 20 years, George Donohue said the sub-branch had been trying to acquire one for years.

“Being a past veteran myself it really means a lot to be able to show respect to the past digger especially from World War I and World War II,”  Mr Donohue said.

“It is fitted with a ramp so the diggers can walk into the back. “You can also make it open at the back and it has raised seating so the diggers are able sit in it.”

It is also being used as a community support vehicle and with a driver from the sub-branch, can go to any event.
