UPDATE 11AM: Police are currently investigating an armed robbery of a bank in Redbank Plains this morning.

Around 10am a woman armed with a firearm entered the bank on Redbank Plains Road and demanded cash from a teller.

The woman reportedly fled the scene with a sum of cash and was last seen heading towards Redbank Plains Recreation Reserve.

Police are currently searching the Redbank Plains area for a woman believed to be wearing a black t-shirt and black track pants.

As a precautionary measure police have notified local businesses as well as two local school who have enacted their lock-down procedures.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

Police are urging anyone who sees the woman to contact Triple Zero (000).

Investigations are continuing.

10AM: Police have descended on Redbank Plains following reports of a woman robbing a branch of Bank of Queensland while armed with a firearm.

The alarm was sounded at the 7-11 service station on Redbank Plains Rd about 10am.

There are reports the woman ran off towards Keidges Rd.
