Arsonists target Bungeworgorai campgrounds

A CAMPGROUND has been set alight, after two campers allegedly set fire to the grass.

According to Roma Police, between 6.30-6.50am on January 13, two individuals were heard setting fire to grass at the Bungeworgorai campgrounds.

Nearby campers told police they had heard vehicles come and go from the campground.

Police said it is unknown what means the offenders used to set the grass alight.

It’s believed the fire was lit at the top of a hill and spread along the grass of the campground until a road stopped it from spreading further.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services arrived shortly after the incident and extinguished the small blaze.

Police urge anyone with any information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
