Knife-wielding teen, 13 charged over botched robbery

POLICE have charged a boy after an attempted armed robbery yesterday afternoon in Deception Bay.

It is alleged that at about 4pm, the boy attended the front counter of a recreational centre on Main Terrace, produced a knife and demanded cash.

The female staff member activated a duress alarm causing the boy to flee the scene without any cash.

Responding police located and arrested the boy at a nearby fast food restaurant.

The 13-year-old Deception Bay boy has been charged with attempted armed robbery threatening violence.

No one was injured during the incident.
