Big Cod comes to Darling Downs town

A DARLING Downs town has become the latest to add a novelty structure to attract tourists.
Forget the Big Banana, the Big Cane Toad or the Big Crab, Goondiwindi now has the Big Cod.
The new attraction is the brain-child of Goondwindi Lions Club member Peter Smith.
He first came up with the idea two years ago.
The Big Cod at the Driver Reviver site near Redmond Park and was installed yesterday.

Matthew Dunlop played into regional rivalries with the nearby town of Condamine and said: "Condimine's going to be jealous."
Sherry Ann King-Burns said: Wicked! Go Gundy."
The Big Cod does have its detractors with Rach Stanborough saying: "It's not that I don't like it it's just I don't get its relevance to Goondiwindi. Maybe a horse would have been better."
