18th birthday lands party girl in jail after drunken antics

BIRTHDAY celebrations turned sour for Mileiq Nation Amenell Tyne, when her drunken antics landed her in a jail cell.

Tyne pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday to seven charges, including assaulting police.

It was April 5 at 5.15am, when Tyne, who had been celebrating her 18th birthday, was on East St walking past people and yelling "don't touch me".

The court heard that she had been intoxicated and walking into people.

When police arrived she was told to leave the area, but Tyne didn't listen and was arrested.

It was when she was taken to the Rockhampton watch house that she started to act out.

The court heard that as police got her out of the vehicle, she had gotten out of her handcuffs and threw them at police before kicking an officer.

She then put up a struggle with police while they searched her; she lunged at one officer and hit him in the mouth.

The court heard she also tried to strike another officer while they were restraining her.

Tyne's defence lawyer said the teenager had "freaked out" and "lost it" when she was put in a cell.

Tyne took her shoes off while in the cell and began smashing the sides of the wall.

Magistrate Michael O'Driscoll told the court that it was "certainly not a good way to celebrate your birthday".

Tyne was ordered to pay $300 each to the three officers she assaulted.

She was put on probation and sentenced to 210 hours of community service.
