Blues wary of Franklin threat as Swans chase first win

CARLTON coach Brendon Bolton has been battening down the hatches, bracing for the arrival of Sydney superstar Lance Franklin on Saturday.

The Blues will host a Swans outfit determined to break its 2017 duck at the MCG, with Franklin looming as the key.

The forward has booted 21 goals in his past four matches against Carlton.

"He's such a talented player," Bolton said. "We've just got to make sure that we keep a lot of pressure on him because if given time and space he'll really hurt you."

To help shore up the defence, one-time Docker Alex Silvagni will play his first game at the club where his second cousin Steve was a legend.

"It's another little connection to our history," Bolton said.

"He (Alex Silvagni) may have played earlier in the year if it wasn't for a few injuries in the pre-season. He's a real competitor and we think he'll add to our defence."
