Bomb Squad called to Boondall State School

THE Bomb Squad is at Boondall State School investigating a suspicious package found in the staff carpark around midday today (December 7).

With only two school days remaining, sniffer dogs and robots helped clear the carpark as Explosive Ordnance Response Team continues to investigate the package.

Boondall Police acting sergeant Troy Weston said the package was half the size of a shoebox and looked to be covered in masking tape.

"The students are fine but some parents have picked their kids up," he said.

"One of the teachers observed a suspicious package near one of the teacher's vehicles on Sandgate Road.

"We believed it needed further examination from a safety point of view.

"Robots and bomb dogs searched and cleared the staff carpark."

Students remain in their classrooms and Boondall State School staff were unable to comment on the threat.

UPDATE:

Acting sergeant Weston said, "It didn't end up being a bomb but was thrown under the car with malicious intent".

Roscommon Road was reopened as students finished school for the day.
