Warrego Hwy crash: Dalby man charged with multiple offences
On New Years Day, chunks of concrete lay strewn across the Warrego Highway just outside of Bunnings in Dalby, after an alleged drink driver crashed into a light pole.
At 4.15pm on Friday January 1, a 43-year-old Dalby man crashed into the light pole with his sedan, tearing it from the medium strip and dragging it for metres before swerving off the 60km/ph road.
The single vehicle crash tore off the front end of the man's sedan and crushed the right side of the engine - littering the busy highway with mangled car parts.
A Queensland police spokesman said the middle-aged man now has a date with Dalby Magistrates Court in March, after being charged with driving under the influence, and driving without due care and attention.
On the day of the crash, a Queensland police spokeswoman said the man suffered from chest pain after he was struck by an airbag.
"He was also bleeding from the leg," she said.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said the man declined medical treatment and transport to hospital.
