Truck loses trailer, destroys guardrail on Warrego near Roma

UPDATE: 8.38pm:

The Warrego Highway is now open in both directions, a Queensland Police spokesman said.

 

UPDATE, 6.20pm:

One lane of the Warrego Highway is blocked at Pickanjinnie, east of Roma, after a truck crash at 4.30pm, January 25.

A road train heading westbound left the road and is currently being removed.

Its trailer has dislodged and rolled over, currently lying on an embankment.

The northern guardrail west of the 'turtle intersection' has been completely destroyed by the crash.

Although there were previous concerns about a fuel leakage, Queensland Police senior constable Michael Hewitt said the fuel tank is under control and there is no longer any further risk.

Ambulances were on scene however didn't need to remain as there were no injuries.

The highway is still being managed by traffic control and emergency services remain on scene.

EARLIER:

A truck and trailer accident has blocked off a major Southwest Queensland highway.

One lane of the Warrego Highway is currently blocked at the 'turtle intersection' at the Pickanjinnie North and South Road intersection, after the crash around 4.30pm on January 25.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said the crash has caused significant damage to a guardrail between Wallumbilla and Roma.

Nobody has been injured, although there are concerns about a possible fuel leakage from the truck, a Queensland Police spokesman said.
