Police identify woman found dead on beach

UPDATE 1.45PM FRIDAY: Police have confirmed the deceased woman washed up on Torquay Beach to be an 89-year-old from the area. 

A Police Media spokesman said the woman's family had been notified.

She has been identified as a Torquay woman. 

The body was found on the beach at 6.40am on Thursday. 

Investigations into the cause of death continue. 

There death is non-suspicious.

 Police are yet to determine the cause of death but it is not being treated as suspicious. 

"There are unknown circumstances how she ended up in the water at this stage," a police spokesman said.

The woman has yet to be identified.

AN ELDERLY woman has been found deceased off Torquay Beach.  

A Queensland Police Media spokesman said the lady was found at 6.40am on Thursday. 

"There are unknown circumstances how she ended up in the water at this stage," the spokesman said.

Police are investigating. 

The woman has yet to be identified.
