Broncos come to Ipswich, ready to meet the fans
THE BRISBANE Broncos are set to rock North Ipswich Reserve today where the top squad will hold a training session and sign autographs for fans.
Ipswich has its own Western Corridor NRL bid, but the Broncos remain a hugely popular club in the city.
Three current squad members - star five-eighth Anthony Milford, hooker Matt Parcell and prop Joe Ofahengaue - either grew up in the city or attended school here.
Ipswich Jets CEO Wayne Wendt said the affiliation with the Broncos had been a huge success and hopes to extend it beyond 2015.
"We are in the third year of a three-year affiliation with the Broncos and we would love to stay with them because it has been a great relationship," Wendt said.
"We have seen the benefits of our players, like Matt Parcell, being able to sign there and guys like Rod Griffin training with the Broncos in the off-season. It is important for our players to see the pathway."
Wendt said today's visit, which starts with a training run at 4pm, was further evidence of the NRL competition leader's continued support for the Ipswich community.
"It will be a great afternoon for the fans," he said.
