CAUGHT TWICE: Drunk driver sideswiped car on highway: police
A MAN allegedly caught twice drink driving and driving dangerously on the Sunshine Coast is facing a weekend in the lock-up.
Police said the 41-year-old Boondall man was first intercepted a vehicle on the Bruce Highway, Glasshouse Mountains around 3pm on Friday, after the vehicle allegedly crossed out of its lane and travelled towards an on-coming police car.
He was taken to Landsborough Police Station where he was charged with driving under the influence of liquor (UIL - 0.242 grams of alcohol in 210 litres of breath).
Around 8.45pm, police were sent out to patrol the southbound lanes of the Bruce Highway, in the Burpengary area, following reports of a vehicle allegedly swerving in and out of traffic, tailgating and driving dangerously.
A short time later a call was received by the Police Communications Centre regarding a vehicle having side-swiped a car in the southbound lanes of the Bruce Highway at Morayfield, with the vehicle failing to stop.
The female driver of the car was not injured.
Police intercepted a vehicle around 9pm on the Gateway Motorway at Bracken Ridge, with the male driver being taken to Boondall Police Station where he was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, driving under the influence of liquor (UIL - 0.248 grams of alcohol in 210 litres of breath) and disqualified driving.
The man was denied police bail and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday, August 21.
A young child, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was not physically injured.
Police investigations are continuing.
