Charity steps in to ensure boy's remains returned to family

A CANBERRA-based charity has pledged to cover the cost of cremating the body of a young boy who is still in a funeral home more than six months after he was allegedly murdered.

Nine-year-old Bradyn Dillon's father Graham Stuart Dillon has pleaded not guilty to killing his son in February.

Bradyn's mother Rachel Jones, who lives in Tasmania, told the ABC News special Behind Closed Doors she has been unable to afford to recover her son's body.

"Little Bradyn's still at the funeral hall until I can finish paying that off," she said.

"So at the moment we've got a couple of teddy bears, a couple of pictures and some beautiful memories that we'll have forever."
