Council to consider meatworks in Roma
A MEATWORKS processing facility could soon be on the horizon for the Maranoa region, after Maranoa Regional Council accepted a pre-feasibility study on a proposed facility on Monday.
A motion was carried at the Council meeting on Monday to accept the recommendations made in the Maranoa Meatworks Pre-Feasibility Study, which details the commercial viability of a meat processing facility in the Maranoa region.
The study, authored by BDO (Qld) Pty Ltd, suggests the implementation of the processing facility based on the increasing market options for cattle producers in southern Queensland, as well as the community benefits from employment and reduced costs on transporting livestock.
