Council to sponsor Roma Rugby 7’s Competition next month

Council will sponsor the upcoming Roma Rugby 7’s tournament which be held in Roma on the first weekend of February 2021.

The event will consist of approximately 20 men’s teams and 20 women’s teams competing in the tournament and is expected attract a considerable number of visitors to the region.

Council will provide support as a Bronze Sponsors for the Men’s or Women’s Bowl (Trophy) at a cost of $1000 which will receive the following benefits: naming rights, field placard displayed at the Gallas Fox Park, logo on tournament program, name included in advertising and a range of tickets to the event.

Advice given to councillors was that given council provided assistance in the past, it would be appropriate they continue to support this event this year, as the event continues to grow.

It is recommended that the Women’s Bowl Trophy be sponsored as a means of showing support for the rapidly growing sport and mayor Tyson Golder present the trophy.

Council has committed to investing and supporting events in the region, and this sporting event has the capacity to attract many visitors with associated economic benefits.

In the council meeting in Yuleba on December 9 2020, Cr Mark Edwards moved the motion Request for Sponsorship Roma Rugby 7’s 2021, with Cr Geoff McMullen seconding and all other councillors in support.
