CRIME WRAP: Numerous brawls, drug driving

Brawl between two men

A physical altercation has caught the attention of police after two men were caught fighting outside a home on Cottell Street.

Roma Police allege a 30-year-old Roma man assaulted a 56-year-old Roma man, who known to him, at 9pm on Monday, March 8.

Officers are continuing to investigate the incident.

Man busted drug driving and possessing drugs

Police conducting mobile patrols have intercepted a young man drug driving and possessing cannabis.

At 10.55am on Thursday, March 11, officers intercepted the 27-year-old on Miscamble Street for a random breath test and licence check.

Officers allege the man‘s saliva test provided a positive result to drugs.

Officers searched his vehicle and allegedly found a clipsal bag containing cannabis.

The man was issued with a notice to appear in the Roma Magistrates Court at a later date for possessing dangerous drugs and drug driving.

Truck driver issued with a court date

A truck driver will front the Roma Magistrates Court after officers found prescription drugs unlawfully in his possession.

Roma police intercepted the man at 7am on Friday, March 12, on the Warrego Highway, just outside of Roma.

They issued the 30-year-old man from Felton South with an infringement notice for various log book offences.

Officers then searched the cab of his truck and found prescription drugs, unlawfully in his possession.

He will front the Roma Magistrates Court at a later date.

Known offender allegedly stole a pushbike

Police suspect a stolen push bike was taken by a teenager known to police.

A witness saw a 15-year-old Roma teenager riding a stolen push bike at 8am on Monday, March 8, and reported it to police two days later.

The investigation is ongoing, however officers suspect it is a boy known to police.

Roma man will front court after allegedly behaving violently

A 26-year-old Roma male was issued with a notice to appear in court after acting in a violent matter.

At 2.45pm on Thursday, March 11, Roma Police attended a disturbance on Powell Street and found a 22-year-old man acting violent.

He was told several times to calm down by officers, however failed to do so and was subsequently arrested by police.

He was later released on bail and issued a notice to appear in the Roma Magistrates Court on March 16 for public nuisance.

Two groups behaving badly

A 41-year-old man was repeatedly told to calm down by police after two groups of people were behaving violently outside a home on Powell Street.

At 3.40pm on Wednesday, March 10, Roma Police attended a disturbance and found two groups of people yelling at each other.

Police had to continually talk to one 41-year-old man who kept antagonising the owner of the home.

He ignored the officer‘s directions and was placed under arrest.

He was later released on bail and will front the Roma Magistrates Court on March 31.

Phone stolen from school bag

Police are investigating after a phone was stolen from a student‘s school bag.

Between 1.30pm-2.30pm on Monday, March 8, the student said their phone was stolen from their bag at school.

Officers are currently investigating the matter.

Illegally modified car

A 24-year-old Roma man was given an infringement notice after police found his vehicle was illegally modified.

Officers intercepted the local at 7.40am on Thursday, March 11, on Bungil Street.

Investigations into the vehicle found the owner had removed the muffler.

He was issued with a ticket.

Car crash at Westlands Plaza finds an unlicensed driver

After police received a report of a minor car accident at the Westlands Plaza carpark, it was found that one of the driver‘s was not the holder of a licence.

At 12pm on Monday, March 8, officers attended the location and the investigation revealed that a 54-year-old Roma male was driving unlicensed.

He was issued with a notice to appear in the Roma Magistrates Court on March 31.
