CRIME WRAP: Roma police bust dangerous drivers over Christmas
After delivering many safety messages urging the Roma community to drive safely and legally over the Christmas period, police have still been nabbing drunk and drugged drivers on local streets.
Senior constable Lea Warren said a 24-year-old man was pulled up on Charles Street for driving over the limit at 7pm, November 23.
He allegedly returned a reading of 0.056 and will appear in court on February 3, 2021.
Senior constable Warren also said a 41-year-old man was charged with drink driving on the Carnarvon Highway at Euthulla at 12.12pm on Christmas Eve.
His reading was allegedly 0.072 and he will appear in court in January 2021.
A 34-year-old man was intercepted on Barnard Road at 4.52am on December 27, and police believe he was under the influence of a dangerous drug.
Senior constable Warren said he has also been charged with possessing utensils and will appear in court on March 2, 2021.
Sergeant Chris Keenan said a 19-year-old woman has been given an infringement notice for hooning at 9.15pm on December 27.
She had been doing burnouts and shredding her tyres in the driveway, creating excessive noise and smoke.
“People in the immediate vicinity have contacted police about this person’s matter of driving.”
Police attended the Currey Street address and the woman identified herself as the driver.
She was slapped with a $427 fine and two demerit points for a Type 1 hooning offence.
The vehicle’s number plates were confiscated for 90 days.
