
Domestic violence expert from US to speak in Mackay
AN American expert on domestic violence will talk to support workers from across Australia at a gathering in Mackay on May 28. Â
The session, featuring Connecticut academic Hilary Haldane, will look at changes in frontline services and domestic violence intervention and prevention. Â
Dr Haldane, the Quinnipiac University anthropology program director, will speak at CQUniversity's Backing the Frontline: Workforce Development in the Domestic Violence Sector. Â

Meanwhile CQU is offering a range of new short courses to improve understanding of domestic violence for support workers. Â
The university is also offering a graduate certificate in domestic and family violence practice in 2016. Â
Enrolments for the graduate certificate will begin next month, and in 2016 the Queensland Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research will begin a comprehensive research project into the experiences of frontline domestic and family violence support workers. Â
The Backing the Frontline: Workforce Development in the Domestic Violence Sector event will be at CQUniversity's Mackay campus from 9.30am on Thursday May 28. Â
