Exciting news for Charleville's Cosmos Centre

A MAJOR boost has been announced for one of Charleville's most popular tourist attractions.

The Cosmos Centre is set to gain a planetarium, with $500 000 from the Building our Regions funding program and $130 000 from the Murweh Shire Council.

The shire's tourism industry already contributes $33 million per a year to the local economy and this new addition is hoped to increase on that revenue.

The planetarium will be an added spectacle to the Cosmos Centre and will provide an alternative option when skies are cloudy, stormy or there's a full moon.

As well as funding for a planetarium, the Building our Regions funding program will also provide $194 200 for the installation of under water pipes on both sides of the Warrego River in Charleville.

This upgrade is to ensure stabilised water flow to the town and and help prevent damage when flooding occurs.
