Extra police called to Roma as home break-ins reach new levels

Police reinforcements have been called in from Maranoa’s outerlying towns to Roma to help neutralise a crime spree that started last week and has resulted in more than a dozen homes broken into.

An elderly couple reported to Roma police that between 10.30pm Sunday, January 17 and 5am this morning, offender/s entered through the window of their house on Wyndham St while they were asleep, however no items were stolen.

On Lovell St, a woman in her 20s told police offender/s have entered her car through an unknown means between 11am Sunday, January 17 and 10am today.

Again, nothing was reported stolen but the door was left open by the offender/s.

This follows after officers told The Western Star there were three break and enters and four attempted burglaries on the evening of Thursday, January 14.
