Fishermen busted with 77 reef fin fish, 28 redthroat emperor

THREE Gladstone fishermen had a sting to their hip pocket, after they were fined hundreds of dollars for exceeding legal possession limits.

They were each fined $471 for being in possession of 77 coral reef fin fish and 28 redthroat emperor.

One fisher was fined an additional $235 for undersize fish.

Among their catch were two redthroat emperor that were half eaten.

They were caught with the fish early November in Gladstone waters by Fisheries Queensland.

The hefty fines made for a timely reminder from Fisheries Queensland that there is a combined possession limit of 20 for all coral reef fin fish and eight redthroat emperor per person.
