Gen Y workers will not stay in current jobs long term
ONLY a fifth of all Australian workers 31 years old or younger plan to stay with their current employer for five years or more.
A global Deloitte survey of millennials asked 300 young Australians about their career plans.
It showed some 46% of those surveyed planned to leave their current employer within two years, and only 19% expected to stay for more than five years.
Deloitte Australia chief operating officer David Hill said the findings showed Australian firms needed to rethink their retention strategies.
He said millennials wanted to work for organisations that "offer meaningful work, opportunities for professional development and a good work-life balance".
