The Victoria's Secret models undertake a series of ballet-inspired workouts ahead of their runway shows.

Mary Helen Bowers from fitness studio Ballet Beautiful has revealed her clients - which include the likes of Gigi Hadid and Lily Aldridge - work on toning and elongating their muscles before they hit the catwalk.

She explained: "The workout is really targeted and focuses a lot on toning, on elongating the muscles and on building this elegant but powerful form. The girls are training all year long, but leading up to the show we really intensify the training. [There's] tons and tons of toning exercises, a lot of lunges and cardio work that's inspired by ballet."

And Mary revealed Lily, 30, splits her work out into two sections - cardio and then toning.

Speaking to the New York Post's Page Six column, she added: "With Lily, a lot of the time we'll do cardio in the morning and then toning in the afternoon, depending on their schedule. They're looking for what everybody wants, that really effective workout in the minimum amount of time.

"The models have to be so strong out there and their bodies are, not just on display, but it's such a huge part of what they're doing with Victoria's Secret. We want to make them feel confident and strong and super sexy at the same time."
