Ginger pride on display at Great Keppel Island

THERE was a little extra sunscreen being slapped on as a group of 140 Central Queensland red heads made their way to Great Keppel Island for a special photo shoot.

When Courtney Abell heard about the Ginger Pride photo shoot, she said it sounded like a good excuse to head over the Keppel and socialise with new people.

As a teenager, Courtney said she went through stages where she wanted to dye her naturally red hair. But she said her parents talked her out of it.

Now, she's pleased she didn't shy away from her ginger roots.

"People actually comment and say how lovely it is and how unique it is," she said.

"It's sort of something I've then just embraced and figured I saved some money on hair dye."

The shoot was part of a wider photographic exhibition put together by Capricorn Enterprise, Mode Market, White Ash Photography and Pro Makeup.

The shoot will be part of an exhibition held on June 23 at the Waterline, Rosslyn Bay.
