Jake Granville stars as Cowboys mutilate Eels

JAKE Granville showed why he is touted as the most in-form hooker in the NRL with a standout game for the Cowboys in a 46-4 thrashing of hapless Parramatta.

Granville had two try assists, ran 149 metres and scored a try as the home side overcame a stuttering start to run in six tries in a dominant second-half performance.

In an error-strewn first half, the Cowboys led 10-4 thanks to Antonio Winterstein's ninth try of the season and a typical four-pointer from Jason Taumalolo, who burst through a tackle close to the line from a Granville pass.

Reece Robinson replied for the visitors and Brad Takairangi just failed to touch down in the corner straight after the break as the Eels threatened.

But just as it appeared as though the home side would struggle to overcome a spirited effort from Brad Arthur's men, the Cowboys turned the screw.

Rory Kostjasyn stretched the lead before Taumalolo crashed over for his second try and the floodgates opened.

Granville's break set up Kane Linnett for another try before crossing himself.

Michael Morgan's kick was pounced on by Lachlan Coote before Matthew Wright rounded off a superb move to score in the corner.
