
Hervey Bay teenager dies two months after ute crash
ALMOST two months to the day after a crash put a 17-year-old driver in hospital, Michael Pickering has died.
The teenager was driving the ute along Beelbi Creek Road at 12.40pm on November 29 when it left the road and crashed into a tree.
He was first taken to Hervey Bay Hospital but would later be airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.
His mother Allison has previously described her son as well-loved, healthy and strong.
"He's just a normal teenager with so much life to live."
The other teenager is the car, an 18-year-old, was also injured and taken to Hervey Bay Hospital.
His injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
The Forensic Crash Unit is continuing its investigation. Police will prepare a report for the State Coroner.
