Court takes five drink drivers off the road

NEW Year's Day celebrations went a little too far for Gregory Neville Symmans who blew more than four times the legal limit when pulled over by police.

The 41-year-old soldier had two adult passengers in his car which was seen by a police patrol to be swerving onto the incorrect side of the road on Boundary St about 1.40am, January 1, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.

Symmans blew a breath/alcohol reading of 0.202, police prosecutor Sergeant Tim Hutton said.

The Warrant Officer Class Two pleaded guilty to driving while under the influence of liquor.

Magistrate Damian Carroll fined him $1250 and disqualified him from holding or obtaining a driver's licence for 12 months but ordered the conviction not be recorded.

BEAU Michael John Kuhn, 20, was fined $1000 and disqualified from driving for 10 months, conviction not recorded, after pleading guilty before the same court to driving with a breath/alcohol reading of 0.187 on Drayton Connection Road about 10.30pm, December 5.

GRANT Brockland Nichols, 48, was fined $1000 and disqualified from driving for seven months after pleading guilty before Toowoomba Magistrates Court to driving with a breath/alcohol reading of 0.17 on Rogers Drive, Highfields, at 8.08pm, November 15, last year. The conviction was not recorded.

KEVIN James Vieritz, 44, was fined $2800 and disqualified from driving for 15 months after pleading guilty to driving with a breath/alcohol reading of 0.18 on Bridge St, Toowoomba, on Christmas Day last year.

CHRISTOPHER Russell Bonell, 41, was sentenced to three months jail, parole eligibility from March 1, and disqualified from driving for two years after pleading guilty to driving while disqualified on Kenilworth St on November 10.
