'I am going there to knock him out and come back home'

BOXING: South African veteran Ali Funeka says Queenslander Jeff Horn will be no match for him when the two face off in Auckland on Saturday night.

The winner of the fight is likely to get a match-up with multiple world champion Manny Pacquaio next year, with Pacquaio's promoter Bob Arum to be ringside for the bout in New Zealand.

Funeka, 38, said he had dreamt of fighting the Filipino superstar and Horn would not be able to stop him achieving his dream.

"Jeff Horn is standing in my way but I will push him aside and march on to mega-bouts,” he told East London's Daily Dispatch newspaper.

"I am going there to knock him out and come back home. It is as simply as that. No manga-manga business here.

"I am telling you Jeff Horn will not go the distance with me and fortunately we already know that he does not possess such a granite jaw.”

Funeka has had two failed attempts to win the IBF lightweight title, against Nate Campbell and Joan Guzman.

The fight against Horn will be on the undercard of the WBO world heavyweight title clash between Kiwi Joseph Parker and Mexican-born American Andy Ruiz at Vector Arena.
