‘I wish I had died that day’: father haunted by plane crash
THE father of a then 11 year old girl killed in a plane crash on the Clarence River at Ewingar in 2014 told a Sydney court yesterday he wished he'd also died that day.
ABC reported David Whitten read an victim impact statement to the court saying that his daughter Kayla Whitten had meant "everything to me".
"I wish I had died that day with my daughter," he told the court.
"I close my eyes and see Kayla dead on the river bank."
The pilot on that fateful day, John Crumpton, was yesterday handed a 15-month suspended jail sentence.
Crumpton received the suspended sentence for reckless flying and was acquitted of manslaughter earlier this year.
