Unlawful striking accused fronts court
THE first man in the state to be charged with unlawful striking causing death has had his matter mentioned briefly in court.
Ariik Mayot, 19, is accused of punching Lindsay Ede, 56, in the head on June 22, 2015 at Goodna.
Mr Ede was walking along Albert St when he was allegedly assaulted before falling and hitting his head in the unprovoked attack.
Mr Ede died in hospital on July 15 from his injuries.
Mr Mayot's legal representative told Ipswich Magistrates Court on Wednesday further time was required so a pathology report could be completed.
The matter was adjourned until March 22.
