League convert named for Wallabies debut

ETO Nabuli, the Fijian speedster discovered by Andrew Johns and Brad Fittler working as a hotel porter, will make his Test debut for the Wallabies against Scotland.

The inclusion of Nabuli was the only change made by Wallabies coach Michael Cheika from the team that beat Fiji last week in Melbourne, meaning Stephen Moore will relinquish the Wallabies captaincy to Michael Hooper for the second consecutive week.

Moore is not even guaranteed of getting a spot on the bench, with Cheika to only announce his reserves after training on Friday.

A Wallabies press release said Moore would "fight it out with Tolu Latu for a spot amongst the reserves".

In contrast to Scotland, which made eight changes to its team from last week, Cheika has largely stuck firm with the players that did the job against the Fijians.

Nabuli replaces Henry Speight, five years after leaving Fiji to pursue a career in rugby league.

Nabuli was working as a porter at the Intercontinental Hotel when Johns and Fittler came across him on a coaching trip to Fiji.

Johns said at the time: "I thought if this kid were a racehorse, I'd pay $1 million for him."

The pair took him to a nearby park for some testing and subsequently arranged for him to travel to Sydney to play league. He'd previously only played rugby.

Signed by Penrith, Nabuli was the leading tryscorer in the NSW Cup in 2013 and played for the Panthers in 2014.

He signed with the Dragons in 2015 before returning to rugby union last year with the Queensland Reds.
