Lily Allen calls for divorce to be taught in schools

LILY Allen has dropped a hint her marriage is over by calling for lessons on divorce to be taught in schools.

The 'Smile' hitmaker's four-and-a-half-year marriage to Sam Cooper has been the subject of split rumours for several months and the speculation has now been further fuelled by a phone-in chat she spontaneously took part in on LBC Radio.

Presenter Shelagh Fogarty was hosting a discussion about teaching in British schools on the London station when she brought up Lily's Twitter spat with Education Minister Nick Gibb over the absence of lessons in "real life skills".

Shortly after, Lily decided to call in to the show to speak on the topic and called for more life skills to be taught.

When Shelagh asked what would be the perfect Lily Allen curriculum, the singer replied: "An introduction to divorce! I don't know ... things that everybody needs to know about!"

Shelagh then asked: "Is there something that you need to tell us Lily?"

Two which the pop star responded: "The dangers of marriage. It's just life skills isn't it?"

Lily, 30, then moaned her time in school didn't prepare her for any of the real-life tasks and challenges everyone is faced with, such as "mortgages and self-assessment tax returns".

She said: "Why they don't discuss mortgages, self-assessment tax returns, or national insurance on the curriculum? Just to make the point that everyone has to deal with personal finance at some point in their life.

"I left education formal education at 15 ... but I've never been able to get my head around finances, I'm terrible at maths ... Everybody get themselves into all sorts of difficulties and end up having to spend extortionate amounts of money on accountants and lawyers to sort it out."

Lily and Sam - who have two daughters, Ethel, four, and three-year-old Marnie, together - have rarely been seen in public together for months and they have both been spotted out and about no wearing their wedding rings. It is believed that Sam moved out of the family home in December.

Soon after her radio conversation, Lily took to her Twitter account to announce to her 5.6 million followers: "Leaves Internet (sic)"
