Man accused of serious child sex offence in Charleville court
A man accused of a serious child sex offence has found himself before a Charleville court, but his lawyer is seeking psychiatric assessment to determine his fitness.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, went before the Magistrates Court on March 9 charged with indecent treatment of children under 16, and two counts of breaching bail.
His solicitor Chelsea Saldumbide sought an adjournment for all the charges as she's waiting for Legal Aid funding for a psychiatric assessment for the defendant.
"I don't anticipate that any report will be furnished by May," Ms Saldumbide told the court.
The assessment will determine the man's fitness.
Magistrate Peter Saggers adjourned the matter until May 18.
