Man allegedly murdered 59-year-old woman

UPDATE: A 19-year-old Deeragun man has been charged with murder after the death of 59-year-old woman.

He has been charged with one count of murder and one count of entering with intent.

He is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court today, December 9.

YESTERDAY: A 59-year-old woman has been killed in  Deeragun overnight.

Police were called to Innes Street in response to reports a woman had been assaulted.

Neighbours had called emergency services after hearing a disturbance.

Police and ambulance attended but she was later pronounced dead at the scene. 

A crime scene has been declared at the residence with detectives and specialist police services in attendance, and an incident centre has been established at Townsville Station.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw anything unusual or suspicious in the vicinity of Innes Street, Deeragun last night to contact them.
