EARLIER: At 4.50pm on May 18 officers from the Sunshine Coast District Tactical Crime Squad intercepted a Isuzu truck travelling northbound on the Bruce Hwy at Eumundi.

The vehicle had previously been reported stolen from Kawana Waters earlier in the day. It is alleged that prior to being intercepted the vehicle had been seen swerving across both lanes of the highway and had sideswiped at least one other vehicle.

The driver, a 29-year-old Cairns man, was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned an alleged high positive reading.

The man was conveyed to a Breath Analysis Section and provided a specimen of breath which revealed that he had a breath alcohol reading of 0.149 per cent BAC (nearly three times the legal limit of .05).

The man was issued a Notice to Appear in court on the drink driving charge and was arrested in relation to other matters. The man currently remains in custody while police continue to investigate further outstanding matters.
