Man climbs on bonnet to stop police seizing mate's car

BRODIE Robbert Govaars stand against police in an attempt to save a vehicle from being impounded didn't end well.

For climbing onto the bonnet of the car and ignoring police, Govaars pleaded guilty to one count of obstruct police in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court Friday.

The court heard police attended an East St address at 5.40pm on May 24 to impound a vehicle in relation to another person.

"Govaars climbed on the bonnet of the car and refused to get off," Police Prosecutor Senior Constable Shaun Janes told the court.

"He was warned several times to get off but failed to do so. He was then arrested."

Govaars was fined $300 with no convictions recorded.
