Man coward punched, blinded over 'bad haircut'
POLICE have charged two men over an alleged nightclub bashing that left a man blinded in one eye.
Elliott Harvey, 26, was enjoying a Friday night out at a venue in Phoenix St, Brunswick, when he was allegedly set upon by a group of thugs who did not like his haircut.
Three men allegedly began verbally abusing the Rosebud man outside the club, about 10pm on May 26.
Just before midnight, the three men approached Mr Harvey inside the club, pushing and shoving him until security staff stepped in and broke up the scuffle, police said.
A short time later the men returned and allegedly punched Mr Harvey to the head. He fell to the ground and the men allegedly continued to punch him in the head.
The three men allegedly ran from the club before police arrived.
Two men, both from Wonthaggi, were charged on Thursday night with affray, intention to cause serious injury, recklessly causing serious injury and other assault-related charges.
The pair, aged 19 and 21, were released on bail and are due to appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
Mr Harvey suffered serious injuries in the alleged assault, which resulted in him losing sight in his right eye.
He has had two operations and has not been able to resume work.
"It was so pointless and trivial," Mr Harvey said.
"I don't know why they took offence to me.
"They said something about my haircut."
Moreland Crime Investigation Unit detectives had on Thursday appealed for witnesses.
