Man dies in shopping centre carpark after driving into tree

A MAN has died after a fatal traffic incident that occurred near the carpark of a shopping centre in Robina.

Initial investigations suggest that around 9.30am a male driver collapsed at the wheel and collided with tree on Robina Town Centre drive.

A 79-year-old man, the driver of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A female passenger in the vehicle was uninjured during the crash.

Police believe a medical episode may have contributed to the crash.

Investigations are continuing.
