Crime scene after man's house destroyed in suspicious fire

A CRIME scene has been set up after a house was destroyed overnight.

Police are investigating what they've described as a suspicious fire that destroyed a house in Dirranbandi.

Around 9.50pm the 39-year-old male resident, and sole occupant of the Lignum Ave address, was alerted to the smell of smoke.

Attempts to extinguish the fire failed and the house become well involved.

The house was destroyed however emergency services prevented the blaze from spreading to adjacent properties. A neighbouring house sustained scorch damage to a side wall.

The man was taken to Dirranbandi Hospital suffering smoke inhalation.

A crime scene has been established and forensic examinations will occur later today.

Anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam vision from the area is urged to contact police.
