Man on meth binge did not die trying to have sex with croc
A MAN was not killed while trying to have sex with a crocodile at Clifton Beach, despite the wild claims of a fake news website.
Several concerned readers have contacted the Cairns Post after a sham news website claimed to have spoken to the family of a 26-year-old man who tried to have sexual intercourse with a two-metre beast while bingeing on meth.
The page, calling itself the Cairns Times, claims to be an award-winning newspaper based in Far North Queensland with a history dating back to 1898.
The majority of its articles consist of only two sentences - many identical to those found on the Florida Sun page - along with an invitation to subscribe for $9.99 a month to read the full story.
A background search reveals the Cairns Times website is registered to a Johnathon Bayer from a non-existent address at "Palm Rise" in Cairns.
The site features only nine stories under its "Cairns" subcategory, despite a purported 119-year history in the region.
But rest easy.
The claim that a man on a meth binge died while trying to have sex with a saltwater croc … was a crock.
