The most Tweeted about moments from the Premier League

FROM Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal's struggle to survive to the plights of his top player Wayne Rooney and who could forget the unexpected winners Leicester - this year's season of the English Premier League got a lot of people talking.

But what exactly stimulated the most discussion?

Well Twitter has analysed and released its data and we can now say for certain the most Tweeted about moment in the 2015-16 season was when the final whistle was blown at Stamford Bridge and Leicester were confirmed as Premier League winners.

This historic moment generated a startling 187,000 Tweets per minute on May 2.

And this year Wayne Rooney and Louis Van Gaal were the most Tweeted about player and manager - although if you have a look at social media you'd probably agree there weren't many nice things being said about the Manchester United pair.

Indeed the Red Army must be well equipped with smartphones - as well as knuckle dusters - because United was the most Tweeted about club this season - even generating more Tweets than even Leicester over the course of 2015-16.

And without further delay here are the most Tweeted about players, managers and moments from the 2015-16 Premier League season.
