Mum faces court for drunken rampage at ex's home

FRUSTATION from lack of access to her four-year-old son had driven a woman to take matters into her own hands leading to a costly fine for the ensuing domestic incident.

The 24-year-old woman had arranged to meet her former partner in Margaret St, Toowoomba, about 9pm, June 21, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.

However, when he arrived to find the woman smelling of alcohol, the man went home.

A short time later she turned up at his residence tapping her hand on windows to the point one of the windows smashed, police prosecutor Christie Mahoney told the court.

She threw $100 through the broken window for the damage, she said.

Police called to the residence found the woman in the front yard swearing loudly and calling her former partner a "poofter dog".

Agitated, she turned on police, pushed a police woman in the chest before scratching an officer's wrist, Senior Constable Mahoney said.

She pleaded guilty to public nuisance (domestic violence offence), assault police and wilful damage (domestic violence offence).

Her solicitor Phil Stainton said his client had become frustrated at not being able to see her son for seven months and she had been drinking on the night.

His client lived in Warwick while her son lived with her former partner in Toowoomba, he said.

His client instructed that when police arrived at the scene his client had been calling a glazier to fix the window she broke.

She had paid the cost of having the window fixed, Mr Stainton submitted.

Without recording a conviction, Magistrate Bruce Schemioneck fined the woman $1250.
