
Mother of seven charged with making a homemade gun
A PENRITH mother of seven on welfare charged with possessing a homemade sub-machinegun has been granted bail after appearing in court.
St Marys Police charged Amy Patricia Jenkins, 28, with possessing an unauthorised submachine gun on Saturday evening, as well as with making a false/misleading statement to police.
Parramatta Bail Court heard on Sunday the offences dated back to December 19 last year.
Magistrate Andrew George was told police were still conducing ballistic tests.
"I'm intrigued by what the market is for homemade sub-machineguns?" Magistrate George said.
The court was told Jenkins had made some admissions about the matter and had bipolar mental health issues and her partner was in hospital.
