WARREGO MP Ann Leahy has earned a spot in the new LNP shadow cabinet as Leader Deb Frecklington works to bridge the "division between southeast Queensland and the rest of the state”.

Ms Leahy was on Friday appointed as Opposition spokeswoman on local government.

She said it was an honour to be included in the shadow cabinet.

"I look forward to working with all local governments across Queensland,” Ms Leahy said.

The new shadow cabinet member said she had the experience required to be capable in the position.

"I have worked a lot with local governments over the years and I hope to bring that corporate knowledge to be an effective LNP Opposition for them,” Ms Leahy said.

"I know local governments face a lot of challenges and I want to work with them to face those challenges.

Ms Frecklington said on Friday her shadow cabinet was a mix of experienced and fresh faces, and said their job was to keep the government honest.

"This is the team that will hold the Palaszczuk Government to account and earn back the trust and respect of Queenslanders,” she said.

"I have communicated to my new team my first priority is to unite Queensland with a team that represents all of Queensland.”
