National retailer set to open first Coast store

A FURNITURE chain promising stylish, elegant wares will set up its first Coast outlet as a part of a shopping centre's major redevelopment.

James Lane furniture store is set to move into a new showroom that will be built at the Sunshine Coast Home centre in Maroochydore.

Aventus Property Group development manager Kate Parkinson said the showroom would be built next to the TK Maxx store.

The space is currently a laneway that connects the main car park with a business service road.

Miss Parkinson said the new showroom was part of a $12 million redevelopment that had come after Bunnings moved out of the complex in 2015.

A development application for the showroom was approved by Sunshine Coast Council last week.

"We are looking to start building in the next few months," Miss Parkinson said.

An Amart Furniture store, Sheridan Studio homewares store and World Gym have moved into the old Bunnings building.

James Lane already has six other stores in Queensland with outlets also in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

Its website said the brand's mission was to make world-class furniture affordable.

Miss Parkinson said her company's investment in the centre reflected its confidence in retail on the Coast.

"We see it as very strong, we always have."

The Daily has contacted James Lane for comment.
